My Bio
I started drawing in 2008 as a creative release from my job. Eventually I came to realise that the creative spark behind the endless doodles in my notebook needed to be explored more deeply than was ever possible in the fleeting moments of artisitic expression I'd managed to that point. I have no idea where this creative journey is taking me, except to say I am drawn to detail and like images that connect in some way with spirit and soul. My usual approach is to allow each drawing to evolve without great forethought as to the final image, so that the source of my art lies in that transitional place between the unconscious and conscious minds. The work of Ernst Haeckel is a constant reference, while I draw inspiration from the art of the Indigenous peoples of Australia.

One of the main themes of my drawing is "origin". The Origin series speaks to the relationship between the living form and the spiritual realm. These pieces are an expression of the link between the cellular and spiritual, calling upon the theme of sacred geometry. They make the statement that the biological and spiritual are intrinsically linked and inseparable.

You'll see too that sometimes I dabble in poetry - usually reflections on the human condition. My method here is to fix on an idea, and as with my drawing, follow it to see where it goes, but in the written form mostly following rhyme as the pattern that guides.

I am still alive (and well), though mostly inactive on DeviantArt. I've  been distracted this past year by the overwhelming desire to build my vinyl record collection. Now looking to get some balance back into my life by exercising the creative parts...

Stop press. I've been walking around with a big smile on my face and a spring in my step since yesterday afternoon. I had a call from the cafe where some of my drawings are on display. They sold three framed prints (of Orign 28, Origin 32 and Origin 34). This is the first time I've sold any of my artwork. Whoo hoo. The guy who owns the cafe says he's been getting a lot of great feedback about my drawings too. This is one happy little black duck.

Today is a milestone day for my drawing. I have just returned from delivering prints of six of my Origin series to a local cafe (the Lava Lounge in the Canberra business district of Phillip). They are hanging them and allowing me to have a little plaque with some information about how people can get in touch with me if they would like to buy prints. I have decided to do a limited edition series of what I think are the best of my Origin drawings (20 of each) and see how it goes. I am having them printed as giclee fine art prints in origial size (i.e about 30cm x 30cm). I am really pleased with how they look in square black frames with a black
